Amla (Phyllanthus Emblica) is known for its rich content of active ingredients that have a beneficial effect on our skin. Amla grows on the Kashmir coast, in Burma and in tropical and subtropical parts of Ceylon. It is known as myrobalans and as one of the three ingredients of triphala, an Ayurvedic medicine for regeneration and rejuvenation. It has a strong “skin lightening” effect, it has an illuminating effect on the skin. The fruit, whose extract is used in cosmetics, is very rich in vitamin C (about 50 times higher concentration of vitamin C than in lemons). Other ingredients include: tannins, anthocyanids, essential oil, base oil, carotene, riboflavin, linoleic, linoleic acid, oleic, palmitic and myristic acid, alanine, serine, and minerals: Ca, Zn, Se, Na and P, which they strengthen the connective tissue and nourish the skin. Due to the presence of flavonoids and carotene in amla, creams gradually darken and acquire a light brown color, which does not affect the quality of the product.
